For Solicitors

Get the work in. Keep the lawyering.

Clerk&Counsel runs marketing, client onboarding and non-reserved admin support for solicitors and law firms. We generate the leads, qualify the client and prepare the file. You do the legal work.

Solicitors are excellent at the work itself. The channels that bring it in — search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising, content marketing, social media and well-built landing pages — sit outside most firms' day-to-day. The same is true of the unglamorous admin that sits behind every matter: chasing forms, scheduling calls, sending reminders, keeping CRM tidy.

We exist to take that load off. Clerk&Counsel runs end-to-end legal marketing and intake for solicitors, paired with the operational support firms need to convert enquiries into paid matters. We mirror the model we already run for the Bar (see our barrister lead generation service) and adapt it for SRA-regulated firms.

How it works

Marketing, onboarding and admin — one provider.

I.

We generate the work

Digital marketing strategies built around how clients actually search for a solicitor. Search engine optimisation, pay per click advertising, content and social media — measured against briefable enquiries, not vanity traffic.

II.

We onboard the client

Every enquiry is qualified, ID and conflict-checked, and walked through engagement before it reaches your fee earners. Money on account where appropriate, scope agreed, no surprises.

III.

We handle the admin

Diary, document chasing, client updates, billing follow-up and other non-reserved support. We do not touch reserved legal activities. Those stay with you and your regulated lawyers.

Scope

We don't do reserved legal activities.

Clerk&Counsel is not a firm of solicitors and is not authorised by the SRA. We do not carry out any of the reserved legal activities defined by the Legal Services Act 2007: exercise of rights of audience, conduct of litigation, reserved instrument activities, probate activities, notarial activities and the administration of oaths. Those stay where they belong — with your regulated lawyers.

What we do handle for a law firm sits cleanly outside that line:

  • Marketing, SEO, paid search and content production.
  • Inbound enquiry triage, qualification and conflict screening.
  • Client onboarding, engagement letters and client care information.
  • ID, AML data collection and source-of-funds questionnaires for your COLP/MLRO to review.
  • Diary management, document chasing and client updates.
  • Billing follow-up and aged-debt chasing.

Anything that requires legal judgement, advice, or the conduct of a matter remains with the firm. We are an intake and admin layer wrapped around your existing fee earners, not a substitute for them.

Qualified leads, not form fills

A qualified lead, ready to convert.

Most lead generation services sold to the legal market treat a name and an email as a lead. That doesn't work for a busy firm. Fee earner time is the most expensive thing you have, and burning it on unqualified enquiries is the fastest way to make a marketing spend look bad on paper.

Before a matter reaches your team, we have already established:

  • The work falls inside your declared practice areas and fee bands.
  • The client has a real instructable issue, not a general legal question.
  • There is no obvious conflict and ID has been captured.
  • Scope, fee basis and client care information have been shared.

That is what high quality lead generation looks like in practice: fewer enquiries reaching your fee earners, a higher proportion of them turning into paid files, and a marketing channel you can actually report on at the partners' meeting.

Who we work with

Sole practitioners, growing firms and specialist practices.

Sole practitioner solicitors

A reliable pipeline of new instructions without hiring an in-house marketing or admin team. Useful for high-street firms, niche practices and solicitors who want to bill more and admin less.

Small and mid-size law firms

Plug-in legal marketing and intake for firms of two to fifty fee earners. Grow a specific department, fill capacity for a new hire, or bring structure to an inconsistent enquiry funnel.

Specialist and boutique practices

Family, employment, property, immigration, private client, commercial — we build campaigns and intake flows around your declared practice areas and tariffs, not a generic legal panel.

Our marketing strategies

The channels that actually work for law firms.

There is no single channel that delivers consistent lead generation for solicitors. What works is a stack of digital marketing strategies that compound over time, paired with intake that doesn't drop the ball.

Search engine optimisation

The cornerstone of marketing for solicitors in 2026 is still organic search. Strong search engine rankings for high-intent terms like "divorce solicitor [city]", "commercial property solicitor" or "employment tribunal solicitor" produce compounding inbound enquiries at low marginal cost. We invest in technical SEO, topical authority and a network of landing pages covering practice areas and locations so the right potential client finds the right team on the first search.

Pay per click advertising

Where speed matters — a new department, a recently qualified solicitor building caseload, a firm filling capacity — pay per click advertising on Google fills the gap while SEO matures. Carefully scoped campaigns, tight negative keywords and dedicated landing pages mean you don't burn budget on tyre-kickers or irrelevant geographies.

Lead magnets and content

A practical guide, a checklist, a fixed-fee menu — a lead magnet earns the right to a conversation with someone who is researching, not yet ready to instruct. Our insights work is built around exactly that: useful content that captures prospective clients earlier in the buying cycle, before they shortlist competitors.

Social media and referral

Social media — LinkedIn first, with selective use of Facebook and YouTube depending on practice area — keeps your fee earners visible to in-house teams, intermediaries and direct clients who already know you. We don't chase vanity metrics. We build a feed of authoritative content that supports the wider funnel.

Conversion-grade landing pages

Every campaign lands somewhere. We build dedicated landing pages per practice area, per office and per campaign, each one designed for a single action: a callback request, a fixed-fee enquiry or a booked consultation. Generic "contact us" pages waste expensive traffic. Purpose-built pages don't.

Compliance posture

A clean line between marketing and legal work.

We work to the SRA Standards and Regulations as they apply to third-party providers: clear written terms, no fee-sharing dressed up as marketing, no referral arrangements your COLP would find awkward, transparent pricing on engagement, and proper handling of client data under UK GDPR. Your firm remains the entity that owns the client relationship and provides the legal service.

For firms regulated by the SRA, CLC or CILEX, we are happy to sit on your supplier list, sign your standard terms and provide the indemnity and processor agreements your compliance team expects.

Next steps

One conversation to see if it fits.

Whether you are a sole practitioner wanting a steadier pipeline, a growing firm scaling a department, or a specialist practice tired of carrying admin in-house, the starting point is the same: a short call.
