Cookie Policy

What cookies we use, why we use them, and how you can control them. Last updated 15 May 2026.

1. About this policy

This policy explains how Clerk&Counsel — a trading style of Found First Digital Ltd — uses cookies and similar technologies on clerkandcounsel.co.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.

Our use of cookies is governed by the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the Data Protection Act 2018 and the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR).

2. What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to recognise your device, remember your preferences and understand how you use it. We also use the term "cookies" loosely to cover similar technologies such as localStorage and sessionStorage.

3. The categories of cookies we use

Strictly necessary

These cookies are essential for the site to work. They do not require your consent under PECR. They include:

  • cc_cookie_consent_v1 — remembers your cookie choices so we don't show you the banner on every visit. Stored in your browser's localStorage. Persists until you clear it or change your preferences.
  • Authentication cookies — set by Supabase if you sign in to the admin area. Used solely to keep you signed in. Session-based and removed when you sign out.
  • Hosting / security tokens — set by our infrastructure provider (Cloudflare) to maintain a secure connection and protect against abuse.

Analytics

Optional. If you opt in, we may use a privacy-respecting analytics tool to understand aggregate usage of the site (pages viewed, broad device type, country). Off by default. No analytics cookies are set unless you choose to accept them.

At the time this policy was last updated, no third-party analytics provider is active on the site. If we add one, this section will be updated to name the provider and the cookies they set before we begin setting them.

Marketing / advertising

We do not use advertising or marketing cookies and we do not share data with ad networks.

4. Managing your preferences

You can change your cookie choices at any time using the button below. Your decision is stored locally in your browser and applies only to that browser on that device.

You can also block or delete cookies through your browser settings — see the guidance from the ICO at ico.org.uk/for-the-public/online/cookies. Blocking strictly necessary cookies may stop parts of the site working properly.

5. Lawful basis

For strictly necessary cookies, we rely on the PECR exemption for cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you have requested.

For all other categories (currently: analytics), we rely on your consent, which you give by accepting them in the cookie banner or preferences panel. You can withdraw your consent at any time using the controls described above; withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal.

6. Your rights and complaints

You have the rights set out in our Privacy Policy, including the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time, particularly if we add new tools to the site. Material changes — such as adding a new category or provider — will trigger the cookie banner again so you can review your choices.
